Re-engage works with older people aged 75 and over who have become extremely isolated, helping them meet new people in person, or over the phone. Please donate now and, together with our dedicated volunteers, help provide regular meaningful companionship to relieve the misery of loneliness.

Situation
More than a million people aged 75 and over in the UK say they go over a month without speaking to anyone. Imagine the toll that can take on a person, both physically and mentally. Being lonely is miserable and studies have shown that lonely people are more likely to suffer from dementia, heart disease and depression. Loneliness has become a social disease that negatively impacts on physical and mental wellbeing. “I get so lonely and depressed by myself. I sometimes think I’ve been forgotten.”
Solution
We work within local communities to set up social gatherings for people aged 75 and over that bring real pleasure through conversation and laughter. "I enjoy the companionship, sometimes it's the only time I laugh all month." For older people who find it difficult to leave their home, we match them with one of our friendly volunteer call companions, who provide company over the phone. “I always feel uplifted after the calls. We have become lovely friends."
