Heart n Soul Choir is an uplifting, joyous activity which brings people with and without learning disabilities together to share their love of singing. Free sessions take place in four six-week seasons each year with some performances. People enjoy taking part: “Choir has made me happier.”

    Learning disabled and autistic people face multiple disadvantages which impact on their lives. They lack opportunities to take part in society on an equitable basis. People feel isolated and excluded, and that they are a “burden”. This impacts on their confidence, with many experiencing poor mental health. Financial hardship is widespread and escalating under the cost of living crisis. There is a need for high quality creative and social opportunities that bring communities together.

    Heart n Soul Choir enables people with and without learning disabilities to meet up regularly and enjoy singing together. Free sessions are facilitated by professional musicians with participants choosing what to sing. People take part in person or online, with four six-week seasons each year. For some people experiencing extreme hardship, Choir is the only activity they engage in. Performances and recording opportunities enable the Choir to share their talents and feel a sense of pride.
