No child’s destiny should be defined by their beginning, so we fight to level the playing field and reduce the many disadvantages young carers face. Our mission is to offer this extraordinary community, aged 5-25, the social, educational and employment opportunities everyone deserves.

A young carer is a child, just like any other, the only difference being that they help to look after a relative, despite sometimes being as young as 5. When known, they’re often marginalised, ostracised and stigmatised, but the sad reality is they’re usually hidden, hugely overlooked and massively disadvantaged. Young carers are twice as likely as non-carers to be NEET (not in education, employment or training) between 16-18 and 48% feel their caring role has hindered their career progression.

Our popular Employability Programme equips and empowers young carers to access employment, encouraging them to raise their aspirations, self-worth and self-confidence whilst enhancing their skillsets. Usually taking the format of an 8-week course, it caters for young carers aged between 15-25, promoting resilience, tenacity and ambition. This programme helps to shape young carers into well-rounded individuals who can fulfil their potential and meaningfully contribute to society in the future.
