To enhance ellenor’s end-of-life care, we aim to expand our Night Sitting Service. Many home-based patients with life-limiting conditions rely on family or carers to provide support from 22.00-06.00. Leading to exhaustion and emergency calls. Professional care from a nurse can prevent this.

Situation
Between 22.00–06.00, patients rely on family or carers to manage end-of-life symptoms such as pain, nausea, shortness of breath - as well as comfort and companionship during what can be an agitating and anxious time. This dependency is exhausting, leading to burnout. Resulting in 13% of patients calling for emergency services. Ambulance calls often result in stressful A&E transfers and unnecessary hospital admissions, disrupting the desired end-of-life experience for patients and families.
Solution
ellenor’s Night Sitting Service ensures a professional is present during the night, providing real-time assistance to alleviate doubt, prevent panic, and recommend actions. Reducing the need for emergency services. One benefiter said, “I had complete confidence in the ellenor nurse, I could sleep deeply.” The service fulfils patients' wishes, allowing them to die at home with dignity, as peaceful and pain-free as possible. Demand exceeds capacity; your support can help extend this service.
