When people are experiencing mental ill health, or are concerned about a friend, colleague or family member, Suffolk Mind's Helpline aims to be the first call they make - not the last. Every day, 100 people contact the team. The Helpline is vital - when they want to talk, we're there to listen

100 people a day in Suffolk contact our Helpline for support. This is up 25% on last year and continues to rise. Without this line, we simply wouldn't be able to connect people with the ongoing mental health support they need. Its existence is vital for the successful provision of effective care. By being the first port of call (as opposed to traditional crisis lines) we aim to intervene as early as we can, to get people support as soon as they need it.

With the right support we believe recovery from mental ill health is not only possible but the most likely outcome. We need to staff our Helpline with highly training, empathetic and skilled people who can listen to callers, identify their needs, and connect them to the best support possible - either within or outside Suffolk Mind. Ongoing fundraising also ensures we can provide subsidised/fully funded services beyond that first call, to provide the most holistic and comprehensive response.
