Wildlife populations are plummeting; from beetles to bees, few species are safe. We want all gardens managed organically, creating a thriving patchwork loved by wildlife & people alike. We will help growers achieve this & research solutions to new challenges from biodiversity loss and climate chaos.

Situation
Global wildlife populations dropped by 69% on average since 1970. Across Northern Europe, studies show urban gardens can harbour a range of biodiversity & contribute to nature conservation. However, urban planning pays little attention to the benefits that domestic gardens, allotments & community gardens can bring. With over 520,000 hectares of gardens in the UK, plus balconies, allotments, yards & window boxes, ‘everyday’ gardeners have a vital role to play, they just need to know how.
Solution
We will help growers make their green space, however small, part of the solution by supporting people to follow organic, sustainable & biodiversity-friendly practices. We have over 65 years of practical advice to share, from advising on alternatives to pesticides & peat, to creating wildlife habitats from recycled materials. We know we need to continually modernise our advice. Climate chaos brings new challenges so through citizen science & research we will help growers stay one step ahead.
