Half of adults in the UK have experienced baby loss or know someone who has. Families who lose a baby in the second trimester receive little to no support or answers for their loss. We think this is unacceptable. Together we can stop the heartbreak of baby loss and make pregnancy and birth safe for everyone.

Miscarriage is devastating. Up to 1 in 3 women experience PTSD, anxiety, or depression. Black and Asian women face higher risks of pregnancy complications. We lack sufficient data to understand the scale of the problem, so it remains largely hidden. There is a marked gap in care for those at risk of losing a baby in the second trimester. Without specialist care guidelines, many are left without the right treatment, when they need it most. Any support they get often depends on where they live.

We are the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby charity. We fund research in pregnancy and reproductive health, with a track record of translating breakthroughs into clinical practice. Second trimester loss is a hidden problem, meaning families struggle to access any care or support. We have developed new guidelines to stop this. We need to raise awareness of this devastating problem so we can change the system and improve care for all. We will fund research to find new life-saving tests and treatments.
