Home-Start Kirklees supports vulnerable families with young children. We recognise the challenges of raising children in a safe and nurturing environment whilst coping with the stresses of ill health, isolation, conflict in relationships, financial insecurity, trauma, abuse and loss.

Parenting is hard. It can be lonely, frustrating and overwhelming. Most parents struggle at one time or another. For some, the challenges can be greater. We support parents with: Isolated and loneliness Poor mental health and well-being Coping with family illness Family bereavement Emotional and physical issues Conflict in relationships Parenting issues Children with special or additional needs Twins/triplets

Our trained and skilled staff and volunteers support families in their own homes and in peer group support sessions. The support they offer is as individual as the families. Sometimes, people also just need someone to talk to. We listen. We help. Support for a family can last from a few weeks to more than two years; most importantly, the aim is to create lasting change – ensuring families can continue to maintain and thrive once they no longer need regular help and guidance.
