A two-tiered approach designed to provide mental health support to victims of collective violence and organisations who support them. This will prevent re-traumatisation of the beneficiaries, alongside mitigating burnout, moral injury, and vicarious trauma of the staff working with these victims.

As of June 2023,110 million people have been forcibly displaced due to war and persecution(UNHCR 2023). Many, experienced severe trauma in their home countries and during their journey to seek asylum in the UK. Despite fifty per cent of refugees suffering from PTSD, there is a notable lack of psychological support, which further worsens mental disability and erodes the community. The increasing caseloads are also contributing to high rates of burnout and vicarious trauma among frontline staff.

TTI aims to collaboratively prevent and treat the traumatic responses to torture, trafficking, slavery, persecution and war using evidence-based trauma treatment. TTI will help beneficiaries access the required psychological therapy, which is the only way to tackle severe trauma and also provide trauma-informed support to organisations to increase their resilience. Consequently, frontline staff will be equipped to manage, prevent and mitigate the risk of vicarious trauma and burnout.
