In Uganda only half of all children that start primary school go on to finish it, compared with a global average of 87%. In Namisindwa District, not only is primary school infrastructure an issue, but also dropout rates and learning. Only around 40% children aged 4-16 have the basic literacy and numeracy skills that are proven to improve social and economic opportunities later in life (Uwezo). Namisindwa also has the highest Primary Leaving Exam failure rates in the country, at 32% (Uwezo).

We help create a brighter future for the children of Namisindwa District through building classrooms, clean drinking water systems, a daily school lunch programme, a teacher training programme, and a School Mother programme focused on women & girls. Thus far, we’ve seen a 300% increase in average daily attendance, and a 600% increase in ‘Primary Leaving Exam’ success rates at our schools. More children are leaving our schools with the education and life skills to fulfil their true potential.
