Refugees Mohammed and Mehdi were traumatised and alone. They fled their homeland for safety and peace in the UK but were shunted between towns. Refugees like them were even targets for hatred during the summer riots. This Christmas, give the gift of welcome to refugees like Mohammed and Mehdi

More refugees have moved around the world in the last 15 years than at any point in modern history. Each year, more than 100,000 people arrive in England seeking refuge or asylum, from Ukraine, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Many are fleeing war, persecution or climate crises. But once here, refugees face hardship. They are isolated, live in poor housing, and may be moved at short notice. Until a refugee is integrated into a community, they can’t build a new life, settle down or contribute.

Your gift this Christmas can welcome refugees into local church communities, transforming their lives and experiences in the UK. By donating to Welcome Churches today, you will support our Welcome Network referral system throughout 2025. This national network connects refugees who’ve just arrived (from their homeland, or from somewhere else in the UK) with a local welcoming church community. We have more than 1,400 churches on board – and last year welcomed 20,000 refugees.
