Each year in the UK 54,000 women lose their job because they become a mother and 77% of working mums experience negative or discriminatory treatment at work. By the time a woman’s first child is 12 years old, her pay is 33% less per hour than a man’s. The UK has some of the least generous parental leave policies in Europe, and the cost of child care pushes many mothers out of work or into debt. Through the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis the situation for working mums has got much worse.

We’ll provide free advice and support for mothers and those experiencing pregnancy, pregnancy loss, fertility treatment or adoption. This will improve women’s confidence and wellbeing, whilst giving them the tools they need to challenge discrimination at work. We’ll campaign for change and raise awareness of the issues faced by working mums, challenging entrenched gender stereotypes. We will work with women most affected by the Motherhood Penalty to co-design services and campaigns.
