We recruit talented orphaned youth from African countries. York and Warwick universities cover all tuition costs for their undergraduate degrees in the UK. With your help, we can also provide leadership development training, so Scholars can use their degrees to help develop the African continent.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the Ashinaga Africa Initiative. Today, Ashinaga graduates are helping develop Africa through their own foundations, initiatives, and businesses. But we need your help to keep going. Our main funding, from donors in Japan, is impacted by the weak Yen, which has lost 1/3 of its value since 2021. By 2050, 1 in 4 humans will be African. The continent will need a new generation of skilled, compassionate leaders. Developing those leaders begins today.

We do much more than just provide access to education. We develop future leaders. Our leadership programme begins before Scholars arrive in the UK and continues until their graduation. In it, Scholars complete internships in African countries and the UK; take part in workshops, conferences, and presentations; research and develop their own solutions to problems in their communities. The result: Ashinaga Scholars return home to create real change in Africa throughout their lives and careers.
