Every year, 4.3 million girls undergo Female Genital Mutilation where their genitals are fully or partially removed or injured for non-medical purposes. This global issue is a breach of a girl’s human rights that can have severe, long-term effects on her physical and mental health which can cause infections, PTSD, extreme obstetric problems and even death sometimes. This harmful practice is a form of gender-based violence rooted in gender inequality aimed at controlling women's sexuality.

We are a catalyst to ending FGM/C, by: - Undertaking research to equip the sector, - Building the capacity of local organisations to implement effective programmes to end the practice among their communities - Influencing global and regional policies to through advocacy for action towards ending FGM/C. Our approach to sustainable abandonment of FGM/C is through non-judgemental, human rights-led, supporting communities to choose to end the practice themselves.
