Sponsor a nurse to help The Gurkha Welfare Trust provide vital medical care to British Army Gurkha veterans who have retired in Nepal. With your support, we can pay for more nurses to provide comprehensive care, breaking down barriers, and ensuring our Gurkha veterans can access vital healthcare.

Situation
Approximately 29,000 Gurkha veterans and immediate dependants live in Nepal who have limited access to medical care, and risk living with untreated health conditions. The Gurkhas have been an integral part of the UK Armed Forces for over 200 years. After their service, many Gurkhas choose to retire in their home country of Nepal. Unfortunately, Nepal is among the poorest nations in Asia and many of our elderly veterans live in remote villages where there is little or no access to health care.
Solution
We are seeking funding towards the salaries and training costs of our nurses, to enable us to expand the services provided by nurses to an increasing number of ageing veterans. With this extra funding, The Gurkha Welfare Trust can provide key frontline medical support to our beneficiaries, including chronic disease management for COPD, diabetes, hypertension, and cancer screening enabling our veterans to grow old without pain and with dignity.
