Sarcoma is often called the ‘loneliest’ cancer; a less well-known form of cancer that few friends or family have heard of. Sarcoma is very complex with over 100 subtypes and despite the devastating impact on the lives of so many, it has historically not seen the same interest, support, or investment that other cancers have seen. While other cancers have become much more survivable, sarcoma has missed out due to its rarity, and people affected by sarcoma continue to face difficult challenges.

Sarcoma UK is unique in being the only charity in the United Kingdom to focus on all types of sarcoma. Since 2009, we’ve committed over £8 million to 99 research projects, undertaking scientific and medical research at institutions across the UK. Under our 2021-26 Research Strategy, our funding allows researchers to explore innovative new ideas, and to take those seeds to the next level. We invest in the research leaders of the future and seek to improve care for patients during treatment.
