Imagine how it feels to struggle with everyday needs like getting on the bus, brushing your teeth or having a meal. Now imagine that nobody understands why or how to help. We are the only PDA specialist charity in the UK, and sadly one of the only places PDA autistic people can turn to for support.

Autistic people have diverse traits and experiences, but we are largely reliant on research and practice drawn from only a small part of the autistic community. PDA is a lesser-known profile of autism with distinctive characteristics that are often overlooked, and as a result PDA people face a post code lottery in having their needs recognised. This is having an avoidable and devastating impact on the lives of PDA people and their families.

Our small team works tirelessly to raise awareness, create resources and deliver training to PDA adults, parents and professionals who support PDA autistic people. Following the principle of ‘nothing about us without us’, we support the creation of new research into PDA and autism, and endeavor to create safe digital spaces to grow and consult with the PDA community. Our free enquiry line supported 1359 people last year, which many people told us was a lifeline for them.
