We will support local vulnerable women to reap the positive benefits of dance via regular movement and wellbeing sessions. The women have experienced multiple life challenges, and these sessions will support their reintegration into their community, fostering empowerment through shared experience.

Situation
There is overwhelming evidence that taking part in dance has many benefits thanks to the crossover between creativity and physical movement. It is social, promotes self-expression, improves wellbeing, self-esteem, and physical health. We will offer free regular, bespoke creative movement sessions for vulnerable women who have faced multiple challenges in their lives, to support their recovery from situations such as domestic abuse, homelessness or as refugees.
Solution
We will work with local organisations in Brighton & Hove, e.g. domestic abuse charity, RISE, and homeless charity, JustLife, to create a bespoke programme of movement sessions for vulnerable women. We will co-curate the programme with the women, holding a series of ‘conversations’ and introducing them range of dance styles, taking inspiration from their cultures and life experiences. In order to foster greater connection, each session will also have time for reflection and socialising.
