Situation
MCAS symptoms are chronic, episodic and unpredictable and can be life-threatening. Some people affected are limited to just one or two items of food, many survive on a cocktail of daily medications and are simply unable to lead a ‘normal’ life. Many people with MCAS are in crisis, attempting to navigate their new diagnosis and adapt to the changes in their lives. Life with MCAS can be isolating and frightening, with multiple, complex factors for people affected to manage.
Solution
Mast Cell Action provides practical and emotional support by providing advice, information and support to people affected by MCAS, either as someone with the disease or as a carer. A key platform for this support is our virtual events programme. We cover a range of topics from mindfulness to gentle exercise classes to community support sessions, which offer a lifeline to so many. In addition, we provide informative sessions on specific topics to support people in the management of their MCAS.
