Situation
Locally, in March 2022 almost 10,000 stalking crimes have been recorded in Merseyside in recent years. Home Office data shows police forces across England and Wales recorded nearly 100,000 stalking crimes in 2020-21. Of those, 3,378 were investigated by Merseyside Police. New laws which have recently come into effect have highlighted this issue as an urgent need and Tomorrow’s Women want to be at the forefront of this support for women victims and survivors.
Solution
We will provide at least 25 women and girls with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to protect themselves from further harm, safety planning can play a crucial role in promoting their safety, well-being, and autonomy. By educating women and girls about the warning signs of stalking and how to recognize problematic behaviour, the program can help victims and bystanders identify stalking incidents earlier and take steps to address them.
