Help Women’s Aid in Luton raise essential funds to support the refurbishment of our refuge provision – creating warm, functional, and inviting spaces for women and children escaping domestic abuse. These psychologically informed environments provide a steppingstone towards a life free from harm.

Domestic abuse crimes have soared across Bedfordshire and Luton is now considered its most dangerous city. This violence is perpetuated by several challenges. Luton is ranked 70th most deprived out of 317 local authorities and has high levels of child poverty. It is also an ethnically diverse town with 150 languages spoken. A number of barriers therefore face women fleeing abuse. Women’s Aid in Luton operates in the town’s top 10% deprived wards, facilitating safe passage for victims.

We play a vital role in supporting survivors of violence. We offer a range of services—including a helpline, community outreach, refuge provision and resettlement support. We also work toward prevention and deploy intervention strategies – working with schools to raise awareness of domestic abuse. Our services significantly contribute to creating a safer, more compassionate community – working with women and children from a diverse range of socio-economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
