Situation
Domestic Abuse (DA) is a pattern of persistent and controlling behaviour by a partner or ex-partner which causes physical, sexual and/or emotional harm. World Health Organisation found 24% of females aged 15–19 having been in a relationship have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from an intimate partner. Edinburgh Women’s Aid (EWA) is receiving increasing calls from statutory and community services seeking support for girls and young women impacted by DA in intimate relationships.
Solution
EWA will deliver tailored services to meet the needs of girls and young women affected by domestic abuse (DA) in an intimate relationship. We will employ a specialist young persons’ worker with knowledge of DA and its causes. This worker will work flexibly and creatively delivering support in the community, 1:1 and through groupwork. Support will include personalised risk assessments, safety plans and liaison with statutory and voluntary agencies to provide a robust support package.
