Women leaving prison face multiple barriers to being able to move forward positively with their lives after prison and as a result re-offending rates for women are high, with 44% returning to prison within a year. We regularly hear that they face struggles securing accommodation, work or training and often struggle with mental health, and that there is a lack of good support once they leave prison. About 300 vulnerable women leave prison homeless each year in the South East.

Grace House will provide safe housing with life skills training and support for up to 6 women leaving prison who would benefit from further resettlement provision. Our aim is to help residents integrate back into the community well, to reduce reoffending rates by offering support and life skills training needed to help their rehabilitation. Life skills will include finding employment, running a home, and health and wellbeing. But more than that, giving women hope for a better future.
