Sadly incidents of domestic abuse are rising in the Thames Valley. Home Office data shows 30,375 domestic abuse related crimes were recorded by Thames Valley Police in the year to March 2023. It is an increase from 27,469 offences the year before and the highest on record. Roughly 65 % of the victims are believed to be women. Trauma and abuse impact every aspect of a person’s life, leading to poor physical and mental health, financial instability, family breakdown and substance misuse.
Alana House delivers individually tailored gender and trauma informed support packages that help women understand the impact of the trauma and abuse they have experienced and learn to overcome the challenges it brings. To aid recovery we offer a range of services ranging from intensive work with our specialist therapists to group work and job skills. A woman is supported by Alana House for as long as they need and will leave our care happier, healthier and back in control of their lives.
