Domestic Abuse is a serious issue that affects millions of women and young people, with 4046 cases in Greenwich alone in 2022-23. This has a profound and lasting impact on children exposed to abuse. These children face significant trauma from witnessing or experiencing abuse which can lead to long-term issues like anxiety, behavioural problems and difficulties in school. We want to support the children and provide them with access to specialised counselling services to help them heal and thrive.

Work with schools and local authorities and identify those children affected by domestic abuse. Our Children’s advocate will provide the children with 6-8 one to one sessions and refer them to a professional counsellor who will provide free 10 one on one counselling sessions. We will offer training for teachers within the borough to help better identify the signs of trauma due to abuse so they can provide initial support to the children before referring them on to services like the Her Centre.
