Active Listening Volunteers deliver an incredible service at an extremely low cost, with excellent oversight and governance. We need funds to support activities including meeting people in crisis in public places such as cafes and supplying and supporting our secure technological infrastructure.

Situation
The Police Service of Northern Ireland receive over 600,000 calls for assistance every year. Many of these calls involve people in the midst of crisis who need someone to talk to and to work out what their next step is. The Police do not have the resources to support them and in many cases, it is not their responsibility to do so.
Solution
Active Listening believe everyone in the midst of crisis should have someone they can talk to – in confidence, without judgement and the freedom to determine their next step. Active Listening stands in the gap providing hope. Active Listening receive referrals from the emergency services for adults in the midst of crisis for whom we offer face to face confidential listening and signposting.
