'Campfire' is Barrel Organ's participatory arts programme delivered in partnership with Doncaster Mind. The programme is focused on building creativity & confidence, and with your support will continue to provide a safe space for service users who do not have regular access to the arts.

In Doncaster, 1 in 9 people have been diagnosed w/ depression (Local analysis ‘21), and 75%+ of people answered ‘not very’ or ‘average’ in answer to the Q ‘how cultural is Doncaster?’ (Don Culture Survey). As this data evidences, the pressure on the likes of our partners at Doncaster Mind is always increasing, with more & more people seeking Mental Health support every week. Cultural Engagement in Doncaster is also down, & ourselves & Mind are combatting these problems, but we need to do more.

Barrel Organ will run a weekly creative skills session at Doncaster Mind, offering respite to Doncaster Mind as they deal with the increased demand on their services. The weekly sessions will enable participants to learn new skills, gain confidence & lead to future participation in arts, as well as crucially providing a peer group of Mental Wellbeing support. Pilot year participants have already formed a community-arts group, maintaining contact with each other, us & local arts organisations.
