We deliver support programmes for young parents (14-24 years) to help reduce isolation and raise confidence and self-esteem in themselves + their ability to positively parent their children. We run weekly peer led support sessions as well as 1 to 1 support to help young parents at a vulnerable time.

The top 3 presenting issues are isolation and loneliness, poor mental health and struggling to adjust to parenthood at a young age. Support is vital to help them positively parent and to believe in themselves. Over the past 5 years, we have continued to experience increased referrals, receiving 58 last year. They face an excessive number of issues not least because of the stigma attached to teenage pregnancy and feeling judged and isolated by the life-changing experience of becoming parents.

We are the only provider in Kirklees that runs 1 on 1 and weekly peer group support sessions for parents and their children which allow them to • Socialise in a comfortable safe environment • Build confidence and self esteem • Gain new parenting skills • Empower each other through friendship and peer support • Improve emotional wellbeing • Support with hard hitting subjects like sexual health, risky relationships, safety of parents and child, domestic abuse, managing debt + re-entering education
