Liverpool is the third most deprived local authority in England and has seen a big increase in the number of people diagnosed with depression. People’s mental health has been further impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and by the cost-of-living crisis and they often feel isolated and unsupported. The therapies that can help, such as counselling, are not always the best way forward for people, especially those with communication difficulties. Therapy can be very expensive and beyond people's means.

Our aim is to provide accessible and affordable Music Therapy sessions. Music Therapy provides specific support for people’s psychological, emotional, communicative and social needs. Sometimes through music, people can communicate how they are feeling and connect with others more readily. We are working with local Social Prescribing link workers from two Primary Care Networks, Central Liverpool and Anfield & Everton to provide free Music Therapy sessions for people with mental health needs.
