The Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project supports families on low incomes with young children to buy fruit & veg. Families get £4 of Rose Vouchers per child and £6 if the child is under one, which can be redeemed for fruit & veg at local markets, helping children have the healthiest possible start.

    Situation

The continued cost-of-living crisis and high food prices are exacerbating rising food poverty levels. A family's economic situation directly impacts the food choices available to them. Families are switching to cheaper foods as calories from unhealthy food are 3x cheaper than healthy options - prioritising their children being full rather than healthy. An inadequate diet limits the life chances of children on low incomes and stores up health problems for the future.

    Solution

Through our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project, we'll support pregnant women and families with children under 5 that are at risk of food poverty to buy a variety of fresh fruit & veg using Rose Vouchers, ensuring families can provide a healthy and nutritious diet for their children. We'll work with children's centres that identify the families most in need and distribute the vouchers in Lambeth, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Tower Hamlets and Southwark.
