850,000 children & young people in Britain are living with a mental health problem: an average of three children in every classroom. Despite the well-evidenced transformational impact that music has on children’s mental health & wellbeing, music provision is diminishing in state primary schools. 68% of primary teachers reported reduced music provision pre-pandemic. The impact of the pandemic & the cost-of-living crisis exacerbates barriers preventing children from accessing creative experiences.

Engagement in cultural education contributes to children’s overall development, improving learning, concentration, language acquisition and literacy (Arts Council England). In response, ETO will bring a specially commissioned opera to over 500 children in primary schools in Tower Hamlets, inspiring creative self-expression, greater confidence, improved wellbeing and resilience. With your help we will break down barriers to accessing creative experiences, for children most in need.
