Situation
Right now, people with tinnitus are living with the impact of the condition. They need support, to deal with the mental health crisis created by their tinnitus. More people are being diagnosed and looking for support outside of overstretched public health services. Numbers of calls to our helpline are increasing, average call lengths are also increasing as people present with interlinked conditions, exacerbated by anxiety and stress, including those displaying suicidal ideation and self-harm.
Solution
Our tinnitus support helpline is a vital lifeline, filling a gap in provision for those living with tinnitus. Our helpline advisers will continue to provide emotional and practical support. They have up-to-date knowledge of tinnitus care, support services, and management options. Feedback shows our helpline advisers make a positive difference to 90% of callers, callers who cannot find support elsewhere. Funding a Helpline Adviser will allow more people to successfully manage their tinnitus.
