Bipolar is a lifelong severe mental illness. The million people in the UK who live with the condition have a 20-fold increased suicide risk. 39% of our community (approx. 390,000 people) say that money worries are a major factor in triggering symptoms (sometimes extreme manic highs and depressive lows). People living with bipolar are more likely to have an income at least a third less than the national average despite an above-average proportion of them having been to college or university.

As the only national charity dedicated to supporting those affected by bipolar, we provide dedicated services, including a 1-1 callback and email service, and 24/7 online support via our website, 24/7 eCommunity, ChatBot and webinars. Our 70+ regional peer support groups provide local support across the UK, delivered by our fantastic cohort of volunteers with lived experience. We are resolute in our mission to support those affected by bipolar to live well and fulfil their potential.
