Epping Forest is facing its biggest challenges in a generation but it has no voice to speak for itself. Working with expert volunteers we will be that voice, respond to local planning applications and policy issues that pose a detrimental threat to the Forest and campaign to protect it from harm.

Situation
Epping Forest is facing its biggest challenges in a generation. Increased traffic, pollution and footfall, alongside climate change, are already damaging its precious ancient trees, fungi and lichen. Local authorities are committed to building a further 68,000 homes within 6.2km of the Forest in the next 15 years, as well as other commercial sites. Developers and local authorities do not always consider the needs of the Forest, and proposals can be agreed which further damage its biodiversity.
Solution
Through working with expert volunteers, we will review and respond to planning applications and planning policy documents which might lead to an adverse impact on the Forest, and campaign for better protecting or conserving it. We will be the voice of the Forest in public awareness campaigns, raising its profile with local people, local and regional politicians and policy-makers so that decision-makers put the Forest at the heart of their decision-making, protecting it for future generations.
