Food is everything. Humankind can’t address climate and nature emergencies without transforming food systems. We’re using ethical thinking to unlock intractable problems, amplify silenced voices and develop ‘in the round’ solutions together. We’re paving the way for a right to good food in the UK.

Current industrial food systems prioritise private profit, leave people hungry and damage the ecosystems on which we all rely. Food sovereignty and the right to food have the potential to change policies and practices, to put people and ecological resilience, instead of profit, at the centre of food systems. However, without collaborative and constructive work to make it tangible, it could become an empty slogan that fails to make a real difference.

Governments have a duty under international law to nourish their citizens. Working with organisations and communities across the UK, we’ll host workshops and conversations to unlock what a right to food could really look like in the UK. This will galvanise the right to food as an important tool for change, ensuring that: people understand their rights and their power to shape food systems; and decision makers understand their duties to build resilient, nourishing food systems.
