Sexual violence can have a devastating impact. Unresolved trauma, mental health problems, loss of confidence, fear, physical health problems and negative effects on relationship and employment prospects are all commonly experienced. Survivors experience shame and anxiety and are twice as likely to suffer depression than the general population. Sexual violence is sometimes the identifiable trigger point leading to addiction, violent relationships, professional sex working and homelessness.

Our trauma-informed professional counselling is crucial to helping people process and recover to rebuild their lives, including work, family and social life, supporting them through stressful court trials, and helping minimise ongoing requirements from other mental health and NHS services. Our counsellors have a high level of expertise to meet the complexity of people’s needs, particularly with presentations of complex PTSD and intersectional needs because of sustained and multiple abuse.
