Maxability are raising funds to provide free pottery classes to vulnerable, disabled adults and young people, at our Barnet studios. Individuals will receive group and 1:2:1 tuition over a 9 week course, exploring clay, sculpting techniques, glazing and firing their own work.

    We help disabled adults and young people who experience physical, mental and learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs gain greater access to respite, connection and a creative place to come and feel included. Our users can struggle against misunderstanding, prejudice and mental health illnesses; and need financial subsidy and a safe-space to overcome the isolation, poor mental health, institutionalisation or loneliness they experience. We provide skills through a sensory setting.

    We help our disabled users enhance their life opportunities and be part of a caring community at our dedicated studios in North London. Last year, over 200 people were helped by our service. Reguarly weekly pottery classes give them opportunities to: Express themselves, Acquire skills, Improve hand-eye coordination or mobility, Increase their network of support. Process and be part of a sensory experience Support their physical and neurological development, Gain friendships and deep joy.
