Wild Days Out is a campaign that provides children growing up in green-space deprived urban areas with a unique outdoor experience that can help build a lifelong connection to nature. In 2024 we want to give over 750 children who might otherwise miss out, a wild day out at one of our sites.

    Situation

Young children growing up in UK cities have less access to green spaces and are more likely to miss out on spending time, exploring, playing outdoors with friends, and building a connection to nature. Research shows that 87% of children say being outdoors makes them feel very happy; while another highlights the positive impact it has on their health and wellbeing, helping them become confident learners. Wild Days Out will help children most likely to miss out on spending time outdoors.

    Solution

In 2024 we want to run 25 wild days out for urban schools. The events will provide the children with a unique experience, help them develop new skills, ignite their curiosity and give them lasting memories to take home. Our staff are experienced in delivering children’s events and will provide activities such as bug hunting, bird spotting and nature trails. The emphasis will be on learning about nature while having fun, and building the children’s confidence and desire to spend time in nature.
