Your generosity would enable us to make fresh produce more usable for charities. Many lack the facilities, time, support and / or skills to routinely provide nutritious meals packed full of fresh fruit and veg e.g. in soups and sauces. This will improve health while reducing waste at farm and fork.

One of the major reasons why surplus produce is wasted at charities - or is not even redistributed - is a lack of ability to use it in time in the form it arrives. Even inner-city soup kitchens or large community pantries become easily saturated with produce of a limited life. We've seen this constant backlog drive waste even with strawberries, so all kinds of produce consistently go to waste due to life & format limitations that aren't easily or affordably corrected at the frontline.

Your support would enable us to significantly extend the life of surplus fruit and vegetables and store them for use in leaner weeks when little or no fresh produce was available for redistribution. We could dice, blanche, deep freeze and vacuum-pack in varying sizes, turning a 25kg sack of onions into a 500g sliced onion pack with 12 months life or a 5kg onion soup for a charity to heat up whereas they currently can't accept as much produce for lack of adequate sorting / cooking facilities.
