    Situation

Rural communities often contribute the least to climate change yet are the first to feel its effects. With increased extreme weather, there is a need for Bwayi to diversify their agricultural practices to ensure families can be fed sustainably. Low-income families relying on mass-farming are employed on an ad hock basis, if these families have no income, food becomes inaccessible. The rising cost of living in Kenya and climate change creates the need for sustainable agriculture in Bwayi.

    Solution

Sustainable agriculture tackles land degradation caused by drought and mitigates climate change by highlighting practices which conserve resources and advocate for organic farming. The training provides the skills to grow food for families, improving household livelihoods. These skills can be used to generate income, alleviate poverty, and help the local economy. This training promotes long term food production methods without damaging the environment for future generations.
