For many disadvantaged families, the school holidays can be a long & arduous time. During what for many is a period of relaxation & new experiences, these families instead face a lack of fun activities, increased financial pressure & strain on relationships. Teenagers are left with nothing to do or may look after younger siblings. Talking to, and seeing their friends posts on social media, the impact on the mental health of young people who cannot access the same experiences can be catastrophic.

We will provide free, accessible recreational activities for disadvantaged teenage girls this summer in Derby, Leicester & North Leicestershire. These include visiting local museums, sports days, tours of businesses, meditation workshops. Reaching our target will enable us to deliver three activities to each area this summer, providing new opportunities to around 300 young people. The more money we raise, the more young people will have something to look forward to this summer.
