Carbon Literacy is for everyone, but access to Carbon Literacy varies globally due to relative spending power. This fund will provide access to Carbon Literacy at an equitable rate, empowering individuals and communities from the Global South to participate in the growing Green Economy.

    Situation

Based in the UK, The Carbon Literacy Project’s associated running costs reflect a higher cost of living & GDP per capita. To increase accessibility, costs are kept as low as possible. However, in countries with lower relative spending power, a Carbon Literacy certification of £10 is significantly less affordable: the equivalent equitable cost in Bolivia for instance should only be £1.31. To reach and support individuals from around the world, we need to bridge this cost gap equitably.

    Solution

We want to ensure we can bring climate education to all, by bridging the gap between the cost of certification in the UK and the price abroad. This year, we have ambitions to grow globally, but to do so, we require external support to operate at scale in the Global South. We are seeking ‘top-up’ funding to bridge the difference between the true cost and the equitable cost of this project, to enable it to go forward. This will allow us to expand equitably and leave nobody behind.
