Half of all UK adults have said they or someone they know, has experienced pregnancy or baby loss. The impact is profound, with up to 70% of families requiring psychological support. Suicide is a leading cause of maternal death and has tripled in recent years. NHS mental health care for bereaved parents is vastly insufficient, with just 16% accessing support and no commissioned mental health services for dads. Black, Asian, and disadvantaged families face additional challenges in accessing care.

Sands provides specialist mental health support such as: • Trauma-informed therapy, to bridge a gap in complex and urgent mental health support and provide a person-centred, streamlined service for families. • Culturally sensitive and accessible services to help reach more people, especially those most vulnerable and disadvantaged. • Creation of wellbeing and activity-based initiatives to foster positive mental health outcomes and empower bereaved families to move forward in their grief journey.
