There is a biodiversity as well as a climate crisis, and South Wales is no exception. Nature is struggling even in the Brecon Beacons | Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Engaging with farmers and other landowners is critical in ensuring that our landscape is restored, but many approaches offering single priority plans (whether carbon, timber or biodiversity) have struggled to enable change. Diverse, mosaic habitats, in which increased tree cover meets multiple priorities, are needed.

Our charity has developed an approach to woodland creation that utilises the multiple benefits of trees to meet many priorities. We also recognise the importance of trees within wider habitats, knowing where not to plant and how to develop other habitats (wildflower meadows, wetlands, pasture etc.). We will bring together multiple partners across the environmental and agricultural sectors to find solutions that can enable us to make landscapes which support and nurture nature's recovery.
