We are in a freshwater emergency. All Britain’s rivers are polluted with some facing ecological collapse, and extreme weather is impacting our water supply systems. We campaign to rescue rivers by empowering communities and pressuring Government and industry to restore and protect our rivers.

Britain’s network of rivers is facing the devastating effects of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution. None of our rivers have good status for hazardous chemicals, and only 14% are in good ecological condition. At the same time our future water supply is at risk with a predicted shortfall of 5 billion litres a day by 2050 if nothing is done, and water companies already leak 3 billion litres a day! Healthy rivers are crucial to securing the future supply of drinking water to our homes.

We support communities with a River Rescue Kit so they have all they need to get started or build on existing activity, this includes media/press, campaigning, funding and citizen science to monitor pollution. We amplify stories across the UK mobilising public opinion putting pressure on decision makers through our collective voice. We work nationally taking legal action against Government and industry, making sure the law is enforced, industry regulated, and sustainable practice incentivised.
