Nature’s recovery hinges on all of us taking action to preserve and champion our local wildlife. Funds raised will support a Brownsea Island Engagement Officer who will demonstrate the wonder of nature to, and elicit behaviour change in, people of all backgrounds and abilities.

Wildlife and nature make huge contributions to our wellbeing and quality of life; but the natural world is in crisis. Driven by climate change and environmental degradation, nature is rapidly declining. We know that not everyone has equal access to natural spaces, with factors including age, ethnicity and socio-economic status playing a role. Many people lack the opportunity to connect with nature, a connection that is needed in order to be part of the solution to the challenges that we face.

We will give more people opportunities to connect with nature and be part of the solution to the challenges we face. Brownsea Island’s natural heritage can engage and inspire people of all backgrounds and abilities, bringing them closer to nature. We will offer guided walks and talks, crafts and games; bring young people to the island to take part in practical tasks; enable people from minority groups and people living with disabilities and special educational needs to practice conservation.
