Extending successful arts based activities with additional art therapy days, creating crafting and immersive space in our community rooms in a medical practice in Airedale, an area of high health inequality. To be used by beneficiaries, patients and staff - to help improve their wellbeing.

Situation
The numbers of individuals with severe mental health issues is increasing locally, an economic impact. Airedale already has high health inequality and people increasingly reveal suicide ideation and crisis to us. We see people of all ages, the youngest 7 and oldest 92. Engaging with our activities helps people find ways to cope when they are struggling. Often people are socially isolated, one commented "“Wish I had known about you before because you have absolutely changed my life".
Solution
Developing a craft room and immersive corridor to welcome people to a trusted, safe, warm environment Ensuring we have increased capacity through additional specialist art therapy days. Creating Tea and Toast events to initially encourage people into the community space. Creating volunteering and peer support opportunities for beneficiaries to move onto. Using the arts in the widest sense to increase the impact our charity already has, across all ages and as a community offering.
