New Earth Theatre, the nation’s leading theatre company working to support East and South East Asians (ESEA) in the arts, turns 30 in 2025. We are fundraising to enable more ESEA creatives and workers to achieve their goals and ESEA communities to unlock their creative potential.

Situation
We exist to amplify ESEA voices and stories, which even today remain underrepresented and misunderstood in UK culture. There are few recognisable faces on screen, in public life, or in positions of institutional or corporate leadership. ESEA faces are barely present in the British media, and are often negatively stereotyped when they are. We look to support better ESEA representation at all levels of engagement: in audiences, amongst artists and within the arts workforce.
Solution
We seek to counter this invisibility with a multi-pronged intervention: - Professional development opportunities - A national artist development programme - High quality productions, projects and events that challenge perceptions around, provoke conversations about and promote understanding of the ESEA experience
