Leeds Lieder was founded in 2004 as a festival of art song (Lieder). Our mission is to introduce Lieder to wider audiences and to encourage the next generation of musicians. We are the only northern organisation devoted to the performance and understanding of Lieder; as such we are uniquely positioned to develop its performers and audiences outside the capital. We do this by running a learning and participation programme that engages individuals from children to retirees. We break down barriers.

Leeds Lieder has had a strong history in education since its inception. Our programme includes award-winning primary and secondary school projects, our flagship Young Artist programme for singers and pianists under the age of 30 and community events such as our Bring and Sing, pop-up performances in Leeds city centre, our Composers & Poets Forum, SongPath (mental health initiative), Pyramid of Arts collaboration (working with adults with learning difficulties) and Lieder Lounge.
