The Social Agency is Rideout's arts-based support group for autistic adults & adults with mild learning disabilities living in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire. We are raising funds to support the costs of facilitating a series of animation workshops that improve group members' mental health.

Situation
The autistic and/or learning disabled adults we work with often struggle in navigating the complexities of daily life. Social interactions, with sometimes associated sensory sensitivities, along with a lack of acceptance and understanding by non-autistic people can contribute to poor mental health. Common problems arising include feelings of isolation and loneliness, anxiety, depression, and/or heightened stress.
Solution
The Social Agency addresses these problems by providing autistic and/or learning disabled people with a safe space where they can be heard and understood. Specifically, we use arts-based projects as a focus for people to express themselves through participation in a range of creative arts activities. In these workshops, participants get to discuss the challenges they are dealing with and receive support from both Rideout's arts facilitators and other group members alike.
